Following on from our lesson where we were learning about cameras and how to use them, we then went into the edit suite and learnt how to create a very basic sequence. I was editing with India and we made two sequences, the first one of me tying up my hair and the second one of Luella walking into the camera, winking, flicking her hair and walking out of the frame.
We learnt the importance of pressing the right buttons and not pressing anything randomly as it could do something to the project or open something you don't want to. We were taught that once we had opened one of our shots, we pressed 'i' for in and then 'o' for out which defined the part of the shot we want to drag into the official sequence. The shot appears to be made up of 3 lines, one being the video and the other two being the audio. These can separate so that it gives you the opportunity to overlap things. When using different shots, it is important that you make both shots just touch so they look like an attached piece of a jigsaw, so that there is no gaps in the editing and continuity is maintained. This is unless you purposely want a black screen at some point. We also learnt that you had to drag the clip forward or backward depending on whether you wanted to increase or decrease the length of the clip.
